Job Details

Orthopedic Associates (OA) is recruiting a Physician Assistant to join our comprehensive orthopedic team. The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Examines patients, obtains medical histories, and assesses health status.
Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests.
Prescribes medications.
Rounding, assisting in surgery and assisting in office.
Consults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA's scope of work.
Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
Coordinates appropriate specialty referrals.
Counsels patient/family on preventive health care.
Reviews patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports.
Documents patient information and care in medical record.
Maintains department statistical database for research purposes.
Performs other duties as assigned
Out of state and overnight travel may be required for training and educational purposes.
Availability for "on-call" status evenings, nights and weekends may be required.

Competencies:
Knowledge of medical model and roles of physicians and physician assistants. Familiar with medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis.
Knowledge of patient assessment techniques including taking medical histories, performing physicals, evaluating health status including state of wellness, and compliance with care recommendations.
Knowledge of diagnosing and treating medical problems and developing care plans.
Knowledge of medical records documentation in confidential manner.

The Physician Assistant would provide patient care primarily in the Centerville, Dayton, Eaton and Fairborn areas.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program
Active Ohio Physician Assistant License
Prescriptive authority
