**Description**
**POSITION SUMMARY**
* Responsible for following the practices and procedures of the Midway Corporate production material procurement function while learning and assuming increased levels of responsibility in recommending and monitoring suppliers, negotiate payment terms, price and freight (as applicable), supporting all MPG plant facilities, investigating new developments relative to material and supplies and making recommendations designed to reduce cost and improve quality.
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS**
* Reviews and establishes purchase requisitions.
* Establishes and approves sources of raw materials and supplies.
* Receive quotations and secures bids.
* Supervises the negotiations of purchase contracts, follow up, scheduling, and expediting of deliveries.
* Supervises control of receipt, acknowledgment of materials and supplies, and the maintenance of purchasing records.
* Cooperate with production, research, engineering, and other departments in the development of equipment, product specifications and substitute materials.
* Cooperate with other departments to ensure a smooth flow of materials.
* Recommend departmental policies, procedures, and programs.
* Reviews, recommends, processes and resolves disputed claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials or equipment as required.
* Keep abreast of price trends in basic raw materials and supplies, makes recommendations on the timing and quantity of purchases, and the establishment of most economical purchase quantities.
* Has authority to negotiate payment terms, price and freight.
* Visit vendor's offices and plants to investigate facilities, capacity and ability to meet quality requirements, specifications and delivery dates.
* Perform other essential functions as assigned.
