Job Responsibilities:
- Follows safety guidelines and procedures
- Handle scrap, recyclable, non-hazardous, and hazardous waste generated from the process of building automobiles.
- Can require the use of a forklift or tugger to move necessary equipment around
- Participates in team meetings and training
- Participate in the start-up meeting
- Cleans work area according to 5s standards
- Unloads new waste containers to be used in the Assembly
- Unloads waste containers in storage area according to the waste type
- Picks-up, boxes, and stores used light bulbs
- Runs daily route to pick up full drums, waste containers, and/or empty raw material drums for storage and disposal
- Weighs waste containers before putting them into storage
- Prepare and maintain required documentation
- Assists in loading waste containers for shipment
- Assists in other areas as time permits
- Other duties may be assigned
Job Requirements: - High School Diploma or GED and one to three months of related experience and/or training.
- Experience using an electric sit-down forklift and electric stand up tugger.
- Ability to read, write legibly, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee frequently must use their hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- The ability to work near moving mechanical parts. Outside weather conditions frequently expose it to wet, humid, extreme cold, and extreme heat conditions. The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxins, or caustic chemicals.
- The employee will wear protective clothing, gloves, and hard hats as specified in the various processes and/or instructions. The employee will also be required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- This position could be a problem for someone with an acute allergy condition.
