Staffing Coordinator / 36 Hour Rotation Shift / BWH Oncology

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This position provides staffing support for Oncology Department (3 days a week - 6am-6:30pm), utilizing the Nursing Resource Tool proficiently and independently. The staffing coordinator works in partnership with central staffing and reports to the Nurse Director.

Principles Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviews staffing on a daily and shift-to-shift basis, receives information about special unit needs and unplanned absences. Under the direction of the Nurse Director, assigns scheduled floats, per diems, and/or agency to cover needs.
  • Use pre-planned schedules and information from Nursing Directors about unit status, plans and arranges for additional help for the week as necessary.
  • Prepares 4 week time schedules in keeping with approved staffing requirements and in conformity with Hospital policy and MNA contract.
  • Updates Kronos and Staffing tool on a daily basis to reflect up-to-date staffing as required.
  • Performs staffing data collection and communicates information in format appropriate for use.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Communicates with staff, managers, and directors in a clear, complete and professional manner.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Strong customer service skills.
  2. High school diploma required, Associates degree or equivalent preferred.
  3. Computer literate.
  4. Experience working in a fast-paced environment.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  1. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  2. Flexible.
  3. Organized
  4. Effective communication skills, via phone, in-person, and email.
  5. Experience with Microsoft Excel strongly preferred.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is generally in an office where there are no physical discomforts due to temperature and noise. Work involves multiple and often simultaneous demands/requests via phone and in person. This is an on-site job.
