Responsibilities

ABOUT YOUR TASKS:

  • Conduct product design and perform engineering development and testing work on assigned projects, either individually or as part of a team.
  • Create concept and design layouts of complex products or particular systems within a product.
  • Develop and implement design changes in support of internal cost down initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain work schedules on assigned projects.
  • Create and check new drawings and update existing drawings for form, fit, and function. Checks to include BOM, tolerance analysis, material specifications, etc.
  • Create, check, update, and load product bills of material in the system per procedure.
  • Provide design support and analysis for issues arising in manufacturing, purchasing, quality control, and the field.
  • Ensure commitments on projects are met including cost, schedule, function, performance, serviceability, and appearance.
  • Ensure that all designs are reviewed for safety considerations and agency requirements.
  • Assist in developing and improving engineering procedures.
  • Perform additional assignments and/or duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications

LEVEL OF RESPONISBILITY:
  • Assigned to small projects or discreet tasks within functional discipline.
  • Depends on others for guidance and direction.
  • Still learning the fundamentals of the discipline and role but understands the key concepts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • 2D or 3D CAD knowledge, AutoCAD, Solid Works or Pro-E software.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Good graphic ability.
  • Self-starter, able to work with little supervision.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to represent company with a professional image.

ABOUT YOU:
  • B.S. degree with a concentration in Engineering or related field and 0-5 years related experience or
  • Equivalent experience as a Designer (minimum 5 years related experience).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Rarely (0-12%)- Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling/Lifting/Pulling/Pushing
  • Occasionally (12-33%)- Standing/Walking
  • Frequently (34-66%)-
  • Regularly (67-100%)- Seeing/Hearing/Fingering/Grasping/Feeling

WORKING CONDITION:
  • General office environment with several hours weekly in the manufacturing plant.
