Lead Designer


Seeking Lead Designer for a fast-paced, high-end floral design company. Must be a motivated self-starter who takes initiative and manages work independently in a highly responsive manner with a positive attitude.


This role is ideal for a highly seasoned floral designer who has 10+ years of experience and demonstrated ability to lead teams, participate in floral buying, and excel with varying sizes, scales, and types of arrangements and installations. Knowledge and skill of event floral and large weekly floral, both in-studio and on-site is key.


Candidate should have a proven record of leading a design team, provide training to florists, creating a plan for each day based on the team s abilities and manage workflow and unexpected circumstances to execution.


Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of the floral business to make informed decisions regarding purchasing, shopping, and production planning for fresh floral products


The following is a general list of job duties, but may not encompass all tasks:

  • Full understanding of the Rachel Cho aesthetic, design philosophies, and brand.
  • Leader in the studio, on-site, and on the design floor as a pillar of the organization to inspire, motivate, and drive results.
  • Final decision on execution decisions on the floor after understanding the full scope of the job and client.
  • Manage the design team, for both hands-on and conceptual designers.
  • Oversee floral buying strategy as it relates to design guidelines, client expectations, and budget. This would involve interacting with vendors and using purchasing portals.
  • Be part of ongoing development of the aesthetic of the brand; working with Rachel Cho to create design philosophies and guidelines annually.
  • Be able to work on the design floor to make and also train designers to meet client expectations in producing various types of floral arrangements at different scales and styles.
  • Be able to direct, critique and provide constructive feedback for other designers in a positive, uplifting, and professional manner.
  • Be able to translate the Rachel Cho aesthetic to other designers and guide their work so that it aligns with brand, price points, and customer needs.
  • Be able to recipe designs for specific accounts and clients
  • Create work-flow plans on the table for each day of the week and adjust those plans on the fly based on unexpected circumstances, additional last minute projects, or changes to project scope.
  • Be available full-time Monday-Friday as well as on weekends, early mornings, and nights. This role would be both in-studio and on-site.
