What You ll Do

Assists the Programs Manager in the daily operations of our dynamic Programs Department. Your role involves crafting, executing, and coordinating engaging programs that enhance the lifestyle for both independent and assisted living residents within our vibrant community. Arcadia Retirement Residence Location
  • Full Time (40 hours per week)
  • Rotating Schedule:
    • Tuesday, 9:30am - 5:30pm; Wednesday, 1:30pm - 9:30pm; Thursday - Saturday 9:30am - 5:30pm
    • Monday - Thursday, 9:30am - 5:30pm; Friday 1:30pm - 9:30pm
  • Full Time (40 hours per week) Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm summer employment
Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements and coordinates such activities as exercises, games, excursions, musical and cultural programs, and lectures to independent and assisted living residents to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, and to foster mental, emotional and social interests.
  • Works with the Programs Manager to regulate content of programs in accordance with budget and residents' capabilities, needs and interests.
  • Organizes and coordinates special outings, and accompanies residents on outings such as excursions, luncheons, or sightseeing.
  • Designs, develops, organizes, coordinates and updates program flyer notifications in elevator lobbies, elevators and on the 1st floor glass board and resident floor bulletin boards.
  • Assists with organizing and maintaining the Outlook calendar of Programs events.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other departments to coordinate and facilitate scheduled events.
  • Develops and maintains a positive rapport with residents and encourages residents to develop leisure activities.
  • Assists Programs Manager in designing, developing and distribution of the Programs and Wellness calendar and the Action Line monthly newsletter.
  • Collects and compiles attendance and participation records.
  • Sets up and trouble shoots AV equipment as necessary for events.
  • Works with the Programs Manager to coordinate Memorial Services.
  • Provides back-up for all Programs Department duties.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
