POSITION SUMMARY:

The Precision Assembler assembles parts to specifications and drawings utilizing proper tools and equipment to meet time and quality standards.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. citizen status.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures parts used in assembly are correct, functional and of high quality.
  • May need to remove small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce required fit between parts.
  • Inspects assembled parts for zero defects.
  • Informs supervisor of parts not in tolerance.
  • Looks for assembly or process improvements that result in increased quality and/or productivity.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of assembly methods, including assembly drawings, bill of materials and written procedures.
  • Seeks out additional duties when needed.
  • Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork with co-workers, management, and outside contacts.
  • Makes proper use of equipment and tools for assembly and inspection.
Requirements

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • High Mechanical/Electrical aptitude, Microscopy
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school graduate with five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to analyze and resolve assembly issues - a good problem solver.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas where all areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shops, and other mandatory safety equipment.
  • For the most part, ambient temperatures with typical plant lighting and manufacturing equipment are present throughout the facility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms (including above shoulder height and below the waist); climb/balance; stoop, kneel, crouch/bend, or crawl; talk or hear; and lift to [##] pounds.
  • Ability and comfortability to work in small confine spaces while following proper safety protocol.
  • Ability to accomplish the physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
