The Development Director will be responsible for the execution of development opportunities from inception through stabilization. The role will be responsible for management of all aspects of the assigned real estate development project(s) including managing, coordinating, and administering the project development process from initial concepts and planning stages, through due diligence and initial project analysis and feasibility studies, market research, acquisition, design, permitting, financing, construction, and transition to operations or sale; including performing other duties as assigned.


Position: Development Director

Location: Houston, Texas (in office)

Key Responsibilities:

Work with development team and originators to identify viable development opportunities including ground up and redevelopments

Perform market feasibility and project underwriting for presentation to Investment Committee

Due diligence and entitlements on prospective and existing projects including working knowledge of geotechnical reports, environmental studies, and infrastructure planning.

Work with development and construction teams on cost estimating and budgeting for new projects

Consulting team coordination including third-party architects, engineers, attorneys, and other groups to ensure seamless progress of projects.

Project tracking and scheduling with regular reporting to leadership

Government coordination and permitting including meeting with jurisdictional officials during the due diligence process and throughout the project life

Day to day management of all components of the development process and direction of team members in their various contributions to the movement of the deal

Travel will sometimes be required, as well as unusual work hours related to governmental coordination necessary with development processes

Qualifications:

Undergraduate or graduate degree in real estate, finance, business or similar degree

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in commercial real estate

Advanced knowledge of financial modeling and Microsoft Excel

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Results-oriented with ability to achieve and exceed targets

Ability to perform a variety of responsibilities with attention to detail, strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Must take initiative, be resourceful, prioritize and perform within a team environment while maintaining focus and multitasking in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

Proficiency with scheduling and tracking software

Must have a vehicle and valid Texas driver s license
