PBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy. This role would report into our Company headquarters in Parsippany, NJ.
The Software Engineer will work collaboratively within a team environment developing custom automated solutions to improve operational efficiency. They will be responsible for using technologies to automate business processes, manage data integrations, integrate systems, and provide automated testing solutions. The individual will multi-task across systems to design, code, unit test complex system functionality, and document system design. In this role, the individual will be expected to assist with overall solution architecture design, clarify requirements, provide development estimates, complete code assignments, complete until and system integration tests, support all testing and production migration and release activities, and support production. This individual will participate in POC's innovation efforts, and end-to-end process optimization solutions incorporating the latest technologies. Responsibilities include translating business processes to system requirements, developing solutions, testing, and providing support for break/fix activities as needed. Areas of work include building integration mechanisms to exchange data between applications; designing and developing applications and database solutions to assist with improving business processes; supporting and documenting in-house developed software. Collaborate within a team of developers and work in an international team environment and identify opportunities to improve processes and applications.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise senior architects on best possible solutions to a given problem
  • Stay current on new technologies, developing standards, community initiatives, utilizing these within projects appropriately
  • Work on new initiatives as technologies and organizational needs evolve
  • Create solutions that adhere to defined automation coding standards, guidelines, naming conventions
  • Create solutions that integrate across technologies
  • Create solutions that adhere to performance guidelines and measurements
  • Utilize approved development migration tools
  • Provide documentation to support requirements, architecture, development, testing, migration and implementation activities
  • Test and support all testing activities
  • Support urgent production issues as needed. Respond to other activities and initiatives deemed necessary to ensure successful day-to-day operations and urgent or crisis type requests
  • Manage expectations of the deliverables with functional business analysts, business partners, and support as solutions and problem resolutions are executed and delivered
  • Ensure that all internal and external compliance requirements, such as SOX, are followed


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS in relevant education. Computer science or related degree, MS or MBA would be a plus
  • Action oriented - high level of motivation and results oriented, self-starter
  • Interest in assisting customers to increase value contribution to the organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and verbal with ability to interact at a technical and non-technical level across IT team and business organization
  • 7+ years' related professional experience in software design and architecture. Developing, maintaining, implementing through adopting various technologies automating business process models, and supporting applications
  • 7 years experience with MS SQL Server and with demonstrated knowledge and the ability to formulate and support queries
  • Visual Studio experience required
  • 3+ years C# experience
  • 2+ years client-side web development experience with languages HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
  • Experience with frameworks such as React, Vue, Svelt, HTMX, XSLT a plus.
  • Experience with XML/XSL/XSLT a plus
  • Creative problem solver. Ability to analyze problems and determine practical solutions - Analytical, and problem-solving abilities with ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair issues, and recommend technical solutions and alternatives
  • Experience in system diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Experience and skills developing quality user-interfaces and user-experiences
  • Oil industry, accounting experience with statistical analysis, and data visualization is a plus, and/or trading background is a plus
  • Some travel required

CA Job Posting Requirement: The salary range for this position is $ 97,322.86 - $ 172,707.40. The compensation range listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate's compensation. Salaries at the time of hire are typically in the lower to middle portion of the above range in order to provide the opportunity to reflect future performance-based increases. In addition to salary, PBF offers a comprehensive and generous benefits package.
