Position Overview: Defense Technical Recruiting is seeking a highly skilled and experienced DoD Cybersecurity Engineer to join the US Space Force team in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining cybersecurity measures to protect critical assets and infrastructure supporting space operations. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge cybersecurity initiatives within a dynamic and mission-critical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures in alignment with DoD and US Space Force cybersecurity standards and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability assessments of space systems, networks, and applications to identify security gaps and recommend mitigating measures.
- Design, deploy, and manage cybersecurity tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption mechanisms, to safeguard classified and sensitive information.
- Monitor and analyze cybersecurity alerts and incidents, responding promptly to security breaches and conducting forensic investigations as necessary.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, network engineers, and software developers, to integrate cybersecurity best practices into the design and development of space systems.
- Provide cybersecurity training and awareness programs to personnel, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity policies and procedures.
- Maintain awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and trends in cybersecurity, and recommend proactive measures to enhance the security posture of space operations.
- Interface with government stakeholders, including the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and other agencies, to ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on DoD and US Space Force cybersecurity requirements.
- Active Top Secret SCI security clearance is required.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is required.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, including network security, encryption, access control, and incident response.
- Experience with cybersecurity tools and technologies, such as SIEM platforms, endpoint protection systems, and penetration testing tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.
Location: This position is based in Colorado Springs, CO, with occasional travel to other US Space Force locations and government facilities as required.
