Basic Scope / Purpose:

Responsible for maintaining all production equipment and associated hardware (electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical) with strict adherence and attention to safety policies and procedures.

Industrial Maintenance Electrician

Thompson Construction Group, Division 8 maintenance, at A.O. Smith McBee is looking for highly qualified industrial maintenance electricians to become part of our permanent maintenance team. Our ideal candidate will need to be proficient in the following areas

  • Observing safety procedures and meeting electrical codes where required.
  • Proficient with a Cat III voltage meter.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment or components, such as limit switches, circuit breakers, 3-phase 480v motors, PLCs, and drives.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical components in presses, conveyors, furnaces, shot blasters, and welding equipment.
  • Must be professional, technical, and mechanically proficient.
  • Understand and make decisions based on technical documents, such as blueprints, schematics, or instructions.
  • Must be motivated to work on their own and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills are a necessary part of this position.
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical components of industrial equipment.
  • Working as a team member or alone to complete projects.
  • Making decisions based on technical documents.
  • Perform post-maintenance quality testing and inspections.
  • Troubleshoot or replace electrical components as needed
  • Timely response to emergency repairs, along with implementation, monitoring, and follow-up of preventative maintenance schedules for the facility and operating equipment
  • Use of SAP by writing notifications, documenting time, parts, materials, and description of corrective actions.
  • Must be committed to a culture of "Doing the Right thing" in an efficient manner with the best possible quality.

Industrial Maintenance Electrician Requirements

High school diploma or GED.

Journeyman experience or the completion of an apprenticeship program.

Knowledge of electrical systems, hand tools, and industrial equipment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Motivated self-starter who can manage projects and make decisions.

Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and other technical documents.

Willing to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, crawling, etc.

Install and program electrical equipment

Follow electrical blueprints and schematics

Maintain a clean and safe workplace
