Description

EMCS, Inc. is seeking a wetland / environmental scientist to join our Indianapolis, IN team. The goal of this position is to perform ecological surveys, including wetland delineations, and assist with environmental permitting and NEPA documentation. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and team-oriented, ready to work with a cross-disciplinary team to provide exceptional professional services to our clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting field investigations, including wetland delineations, stream assessments, tree surveys, habitat evaluations, and stream and wetland mitigation monitoring
  • Collecting GPS data
  • Preparing reports and environmental permit applications, including Section 401/404 and CIF waterway permits
  • Writing NEPA documents and supplemental documentation
  • Utilizing ArcPro to prepare report mapping and exhibits
  • Assisting with public involvement efforts, including public hearings, public information meetings, and public involvement plans
  • Regularly coordinating with government agencies regarding regulatory requirements


Requirements

  • BS or MS Degree in a natural sciences field (Environmental Science, Biology, Soil Science, Ecology, or a related field)
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience in the environmental sciences field
  • USACE Wetland Delineation Certification, or ability to obtain within one year of hire
  • Experience preparing NEPA documentation and/or engaging in public involvement activities a plus
  • Proficiency with ArcPro and ArcGIS Field Maps a plus
  • Understanding of applicable environmental regulations in Indiana
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability/willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver's license
