If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for!Idaho National Laboratory s (INL) Reactor Project Engineering group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Nuclear Reactor System Engineer.Our team works an on-site 4x10 schedule located at our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off!Responsibilities Include:The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking applicants for the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) Reactor Nuclear System Engineer. This position will report to the MFC Reactor Project Engineering Department. Engineers at MFC are classified as Nuclear Research Facility Engineers.INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for the Department of Energy (DOE). The NRIC testbeds provide a unique capability to allow testing of first of a kind advanced micro reactors. Being collocated with MFC allows demonstrators to use additional nuclear fuels research and development expertise along with numerous post-irradiation examination and analytical capabilities.The Nuclear System Engineer will be the cognizant system engineer for various systems of reactors operating at the NRIC test beds. This position will provide oversight of advance micro reactor systems and recommend changes to reactor demonstrators. In addition, the nuclear system engineer will be responsible for performance monitoring, tracking, trending and maintenance during the operational phase of a reactor.Functions:Has functional expertise in the relevant national consensus codes and standards for Safety Related reactor systems and ensures that all relevant designs conform to the requirements and standardsProvides oversight and review of safety related reactor systems and equipmentServes as a member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) of various advanced micro reactor projectsAct as the system engineer for installed reactor systems and equipment across two reactor test bedsPerforms engineering calculations, prepares specifications, performs analyses, performs testing, issues reports and maintains related data for reactor systems and equipmentMaintains configuration management for assigned systems and designsWorks directly with the Technical Program Manager and Demonstration Reactor Lead Engineer to ensure reactors meet the applicable nuclear safety criteriaPerforms other design and system engineering tasks as directed by the department managerDesign and oversee the development and installation of various types of support systems and equipmentWork with project lead to effectively produce detailed design drawings, including physical layouts and installation detailsResponsible for the development of control system wiring, logic hardware design and configurationDevelop and maintain system and equipment design documents such as process and instrument control drawings, system design descriptions, calculations and analysesInteracts with other teams, project support groups, subcontractors, vendors and clients as appropriate on an assigned project to achieve outcomesProvides imaginative, thorough engineering solutions to a wide range of complex, ambiguous, and/or difficult problemsQualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other related Engineering degree 5-8 years of experience or a Master of Science Degree and 3-6 years of experienceExperience as an engineer at a commercial nuclear power plant.Ability to be a strong team player and effectively organize and lead tasks with little to no oversightAbility to communicate with both business and technical audiences at all levels of an organizationThis position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US CitizenshipPreferred Requirements:Experience as a system engineer for safety related reactor systems and equipment at a nuclear power planExperience complying with technical specifications for safety related systems and equipmentJob Information:Salary Grade 220 ($107,520 - $177,336)/230 ($121,212 -$177,325)Chosen applicants are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and the selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.INL Overview:INL is a science-based, applied engineering national laboratory dedicated to supporting the U.S. Department of Energy s mission in nuclear energy research, science, and national defense.
