Senior Data Analyst (MS SQL Server)


Department Overview: The Data Management and Technology Department aims to support the company's day-to-day IT activities and strategically integrate innovative technology solutions to complement its suite of proprietary software applications. The IT team provides collaborative business process management, business application support, and centralized institutional data analysis. They oversee the data cycle and process management for organizational data and data compliance programs and policies.



Position Overview: This is a full-time, remote position in the Technology Department of a privately held company headquartered in Long Island, New York. Reporting to the IT Director, the Senior Data Analyst, will be responsible for supporting and enhancing our proprietary software applications with a focus on data interfaces, data analytics & reporting, and process automation.


You will also be required to educate users and explain the features and functionality of business applications while maintaining a high level of expertise on all organizational technology implementations.


The ideal candidate will have experience in writing SQL queries and stored procedures and understand data modeling concepts such as Entity Relationship Diagrams (ER). Experience in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or Power BI is a plus. This position does not have any direct reports.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain SQL Server databases to support business needs.
  • Write complex SQL queries and stored procedures to extract and transform data.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights to inform business decisions.
  • Design and develop SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing data validation and cleansing processes.
  • Optimize database performance through query optimization and indexing strategies.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in data management and analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve business application issues in a timely manner.
  • Respond to requests answer questions, analyze and troubleshoot user problems, and provide training as needed.
  • Assist with systems integration/conversion.
  • Maintain and update end-user documentation and procedures.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis and database development using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience managing and supporting applications in a corporate environment.
  • Must be detail oriented.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for report development


Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be able to work both independently with a high degree of self-initiative and in a team environment.
  • The position is remote.
  • Must live in Central or Eastern Time Zones.
  • Occasional travel to corporate offices for internal meetings.
