Position: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Reports to: BCBA and Classroom Teacher
Location: This position will work within the SLE Program and at Southeast Alternative School in the Pathways Program
Job Goal: The Registered Behavior Technician will provide intensive behavior support services to students. The RBT will work collaboratively with the BCBA, teachers and other support staff to implement behavior support plans for students that require consistent and significant behavioral support during the school day. The Registered Behavior Technician will meet all of the requirements of RBT certification. This is not an instructional support position, although the RBT may provide some instructional support to students as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Paraprofessional License
  • Registered Behavior Technician certification, as evidenced by completion of the RBT training course and examination, as well as participation in the district provided crisis intervention training
  • Physical ability to be trained and perform physical management techniques with fidelity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Understand and apply the basic principles of ABA in classroom settings as directed.
  • Assess student needs and provide interventions to redirect behavior
  • Collect and submit data needed for Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans. (BIP)
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans to affect behavior changes
  • Regularly review, and remain well-versed in a multitude of BIPs in order to implement the plans and monitor plans for multiple students, at the same time
  • Provide direct consultation to the BCBA, specific to analysis of data and recommendations for modifications or revisions to BIPs.
  • Model implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans for paraprofessionals and staff
  • When required, provide physical intervention for students demonstrating unsafe behaviors
  • Perform and document the district approved restraint and seclusion methods; as well as participate in yearly crisis intervention training provided by the district.
  • Attend meetings as requested
  • Attend regular department meetings with the BCBA and other RBTs
  • Maintain consistency of Behavioral Intervention Plans by communicating and providing input to teachers and other support staff
  • Work with multiple students, wide-variety of age ranges, as assigned by the administration, case manager, and/or BCBA, work at multiple sites during the school year

Physical Requirements:
1. Dexterity to type, write, utilize scissors, and office machines.
2. Physical ability to perform all physical management techniques with fidelity.
3. Physical ability to lift and position students.
