**Saybrook University Integrative Wellness Coaching (IWC) Adjunct Faculty Job Description**

Under the direction of the Department Chair, the IWC Adjunct Faculty member will engage students through discussion and assignments as outlined in the course syllabi, provide students with substantive feedback, and respond to student questions and concerns in a timely manner. The IWC Adjunct Faculty member will also maintain communication with department administration, faculty, and students.

**Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**

* Responsive and timely communication with IWC Specialization Coordinator and MBM Department Chair

* New Student Orientation and Residential/Educational Conferences (upon request by the Program Director)

o Support on-boarding of new students

o Present courses, workshops and/or course introductions

o Attend meetings (Faculty, Program, College, and University) and Faculty training, which may include Canvas, IRB, student record system, etc.

* Mentoring Students

o Actively support the socialization of students into the program and profession

o Support student course progress and retention

* Instruction, Course Development and Syllabus Review/Updating

o Deliver high-quality innovative campus and/or online courses that foster critical thinking

o Ensure rigorous academic standards and quality aligned with program goals

o Coordinate course offerings and catalog documentation

o Design dynamic courses utilizing the latest developments and trends in classroom instruction and digital technology

* Governance

o Actively participate in degree and departmental meetings when appropriate

o Participate in the accreditation process

o Maintain effective professional and community involvement and/or affiliations as an ambassador for the University

**Faculty Engagement Expectations**

All Faculty members at Saybrook University are expected to be available and responsive to students. IWC Adjunct Faculty engagement expectations include:

* IWC Adjunct Faculty will contact students enrolled in their course within the first week of the new semester and prior to residential and educational conferences

* At a minimum, IWC Adjunct Faculty are expected to interact with students in their online course at least three (3) times per week. Note: Substantive Faculty interactions with students may/often include (but not be limited to) methods such as email, phone, video teleconference, Residential Conference meetings

* Saybrook IWC Adjunct Faculty are expected to respond to students by using their Saybrook email address (@saybrook.edu), Canvas inbox, or by phone within two (2) business days no matter where they are located

* In addition to scheduled student appointments, IWC Adjunct Faculty are expected to post and provide two (2) hours of drop-in office hours via GTM a month. These time blocks should be no less than thirty (30) minutes each. Office hours can be offered during normal business hours

* Following through on student inquiries and requests as it relates to academic progress

* Utilize University offered resources to maintain technology skills specific and appropriate to each program and process

* IWC Adjunct Faculty will contact students enrolled in their course within the first week of the new semester and prior to residential and educational conferences

* For individually mentored courses, IWC Adjunct Faculty will schedule with each student regular online and offline communication

* For other course designs, IWC Adjunct Faculty will demonstrate how they are engaging students in a consistent and meaningful way across the semester or term

* IWC Adjunct Faculty will return student papers with feedback for assignments submitted through Canvas within the following guidelines (applicable to candidacy essays, MA theses/projects, and dissertations):

o 1 week for work less than 5 pages in length

o 2 weeks for work up to 25 pages in length

o 3 weeks for work 26-50 pages in length

o 4 weeks for work over 50 pages in length

* Course papers must be graded according to the course evaluation deadline in the academic calendar

**Position Requirements:**

* Doctorate or field's terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning

* ICF coach credentialed (ACC, PCC, or MCC)

* NBHWC coach credentialed (NBC-HWC)

* Demonstrated scholarship and/or accomplishments in the field

* Relevant supervision and teaching experience at the doctoral level

* Commitment to multicultural and humanistic principles

* Knowledge of higher education best practices

* Experience with ethnically diverse and/or other special populations

* Some travel may be required

* Collegial attitude and willingness to work within a matrix organization

* Clear communication skills

* License or certification in an appropriate discipline, as appropriate (i.e., clinical psychology, counseling, coaching, etc.)

* Engage in ongoing technology education and adoption of new systems and processes

* Must be ICF and NBHWC coach credentialed

* Strong commitment to the goals and vision of Saybrook University

* Committed to excellence in teaching, practice, and research (experience with online instruction is desirable)

* Capable of offering online instruction regarding topics and skills within areas of expertise
