Job Title: Maintenance Manager


Job Description: Element Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Manager for a specialty chemical plant in SE Houston. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the following: Direct and manage the process and people that are responsible for short term maintenance and long-term reliability improvements of the plant in a safe and efficient manner that complies with company management and engineering standards, specifications, and government regulations. Lead the group to follow safe work practices while operating the department within its annual budget. The position oversees the multiple elements of the PSM program to ensure compliance with OSHA. Increased plant reliability and uptime because of effective preventive and predictive maintenance techniques are the responsibility of this position. Extensive Turnaround experience is highly desired.


Duties/Responsibilities/Qualifications:

  • Manage and lead the entire Maintenance & Reliability Team, including union maintenance technicians.
  • Manage resident Contract Maintenance group.
  • Establish budget for the department and performance goals for the department. Provide monthly reporting on each to leadership team.
  • Develop and track corporate KPI s for both daily and TAR Maintenance workflow.
  • Develop and support the Reliability Improvement program at the site.
  • Support and oversee root cause failure studies and investigations.
  • Support the planning and implementation of corrective and preventative actions and reliability improvement projects in cooperation with production and project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, company, and departmental Safety, Health and Environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Review and troubleshoot reliability issues of equipment.
  • 5 years of maintenance department supervisory experience.
  • Strong preference given to prior supervisory experience with unionized personnel.
  • Knowledge of the standard plant maintenance processes.
  • Experience in the maintenance of chemical plant equipment (such as distillation columns, motors, all styles of pumps, refrigeration units, cooling towers, compressors, instrumentation systems, and continuous stirred tank reactors) is required.
  • Experience with Process Hazard Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Project Management, Turnaround Planning, Project Design, Vibration Monitoring and Assessment,
  • Six Sigma green belt or black belt preferred but not required.
  • SAP experience preferred but not required.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of government regulations affecting chemical plant operations (includes safety, environmental, and labor regulations).
  • Knowledge of PSM requirements as they relate to the Maintenance and Engineering functions, especially MOC & PSSR and Mechanical Integrity.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with a broad range of personnel.
  • Ability to convince individuals both inside and outside of the Maintenance Department to comply with requests and complete tasks that they prefer not to do.
  • Ability to analyze plant mechanical and electrical/instrumentation problems and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to perform engineering economic feasibility studies.
  • Strong petrochemical or polyolefins plant background in maintenance/production and/or process environment.
