Description

The School of Engineering at the University of Mount Union invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor rank to begin August 1, 2024. We seek an educator-scholar with emphasis in construction, geotechnical, or transportation engineering. The School of Engineering currently offers ABET-accredited programs in biomedical, civil, computer, and mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate engineering education in a liberal arts setting. Primary responsibilities include teaching engineering curriculum, further developing the civil engineering curriculum, and participating in the ABET accreditation process. Willingness and flexibility to teach construction, transportation and geotechnical engineering lectures and labs, and a variety of engineering courses including civil and general education courses is desired. Additional responsibilities include advising civil engineering students, industrial outreach leading to student internship and employment opportunities, engaging in professional development and scholarly activities, and participation in university service. The School is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service. Qualifications

Bachelors and Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related field. The candidate must be PE licensed in civil engineering or have the ability to obtain licensure within two years.
Individuals with previous industrial experience and online teaching experience are highly desirable.
