Mechanical Assembly Technician


Job Details

McElroy Mechanical Assembly Technicians generally work in our climate-controlled Fulton or Mingo Facility where we assemble all our machines. In addition to great pay, a full stack of benefits and a sign on bonus, McElroy Assembly Technicians receive paid on the job training. They work with the mechanical and hydraulic components such as diesel engines, pumps and hoses. Knowledge of motor mechanics, basic electrical wiring, and schematics/blueprints are important parts of this job. Along with the normal duties of assembly our technicians may also perform maintenance on products sent in for repair by customers or distributors as needed. Skills in communication and teamwork are a must.

Job Requirements

  • Two years of field specific Technical or Vocational education preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic assemblies.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically to customer locations for on-site equipment setup, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Own or be willing to purchase the minimum set of tools required for job and a locking toolbox.

Generally, 95% of the normal work shift requires standing bending, squatting, and climbing while performing assembly work, inspecting work, machines, and checking assembly procedures.

Frequent climbing into, or onto some machines is required to perform assembly work, or evaluate how the part is progressing.

Job requires moving of material and parts weighing up to 70 pounds. Lifting devices should be used when possible. Parts must be lifted, pulled, pushed, and held in place, sometimes without benefit of material handling devices due to limited space and confined areas in and around machines.

  • The extraction, compression, processing, manufacturing, handling, packaging, storage, disposal, treatment or transport of potentially volatile, flammable, combustible materials, elements, chemicals or any other highly regulated component.
