Fire Sprinkler System Designer/Project Manager

Job Summary

Design fire protection sprinkler systems using the latest versions of 3D/BIM design software for a variety of commercial, industrial, and residential projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-4 years of fire sprinkler design experience
  • Hydracad software experience
  • Working knowledge of NFPA codes
  • Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Preferably a graduate of a Tech/Trade School, Community College, or University
  • NICET certification desired although not required
  • Proficiency in MS Office and associated programs
  • Self-motivated individual with good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license with excellent driving record
  • Candidates must successfully pass a drug test and a complete employment background check

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and layout of fire protection sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes using NFPA standards and industry practices
  • Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications and contracts.
  • Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of the sprinkler systems based on the building type, construction type, hazard classification and architectural features.
  • Perform field check of completed design to verify accuracy.
  • Work closely with the team to understand the contract with the customer, the scheduling of the design process, and the delivery needs of the installation crew.
  • Coordinate deliveries of system materials to the job site to meet the optimum installation start date.
  • Follow all job site safety and protocol when performing field checks and attending on site meetings.
  • Coordination with architects other building trades
  • Material and Equipment Submittals
  • Hydraulic Calculations
  • Seismic Calculations
  • Perform other related duties as required
