Title/Role: Mental Health Counselor


Reports To: Clinical Supervisor (Executive Director)


Overview: As a clinician at GoodWerk Counseling, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality mental health services. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to work in a collaborative, dynamic, and client-centered environment. You will work closely alongside experienced therapists and interns alike, gaining hands-on experience in a variety of therapeutic techniques and modalities. This role is perfect for individuals who are licensed, or are in the process of completing supervision requirements to obtain full licensure, that are deeply committed to the mental health field.


Tasks:

  • Completes initial intake evaluation
  • Provide evidence-based, ethical, and compassionate outpatient therapy sessions for Individual, Family, and Group Therapy clients
  • Conduct mental health assessments and complete associated notes
  • Provide written documentation of counseling sessions, assessments, interventions, and meet requirements for medical records documentation.
  • Maintain and assure compliance of case files in the EHR system
  • Participate in team management approach through consultation/supervision meetings to ensure client care/treatment
  • Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports including federal- and state-mandated forms, client diagnostic records, progress notes, and any additional paperwork (if necessary, for clients)
  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Maintain quality care through participation in peer review, policy development, and quality improvement programs
  • Identify and assess clients with urgent mental health conditions (e.g. suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, etc.) and make appropriate referrals to available emergency or psychiatric treatment facilities
  • Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and serving on special committees
  • Engage in marketing and community work for the company
  • Perform crisis interventions to help ensure the safety of the patients and others.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with mental health professionals and other staff members to perform clinical assessments or develop treatment plans.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs on clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Competencies:

  • Experience working with diverse groups of people and populations including children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Understands the importance of cultural competency when working with underrepresented communities, including but not limited to LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodiverse, and individuals with other disabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including EHR systems, virtual conference platforms, and other technologies.
  • Proficient organizational skills

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with individuals and groups


Education:

  • Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or equivalent; Substance Abuse Counseling, Social Work, and/or Marriage and Family Therapy

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in New Jersey
  • Proven track record of effectively building and managing a diverse caseload and achieving measurable outcomes in client care.
  • Experience in conducting individual, couples, and group therapy sessions, as well as workshops.
  • Active pursuit of full licensure through completion of required supervised hours.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor - LMHC; Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - LMFT; Licensed Professional Counselor - LPC; Licensed Mental Health Professional - LMHP; Credential Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor - CASAC; Licensed Psychologist (PhD/PsyD)
  • At least one (1) year of clinical experience in the mental health field
  • Bilingual or multilingual capabilities are highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of community resources and referral networks for comprehensive client support.
  • Prior private practice experience.
  • Training and certifications in specialized therapeutic techniques (e.g., trauma-informed care, substance abuse counseling).


Work Environment:

  • 100% Remote
  • Maintains part-time caseload of at least 20 clients
  • Averages at least 15-20 client sessions per week


Compensation:

  • $30 - $45 per clinical hour, commensurate with experience
