POSITION SUMMARY:
The Advanced Practice Nurse performs the role utilizing the patient-centered coordinated care model demonstrated through the following competencies: leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, and ethical decision making. Works collaboratively with Medical Doctor and other members of the health care team. This is a fulltime out patient OBGYN Nurse Practitioner position. Office in Newark. Must have OB and GYN experience. Weekdays only.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practices under the standard procedure established for the Nurse Practitioner role consistent with all legal requirements.
- Experience with IUDs, Nexplanon, Colposcopies, Endometrial Biopsies and Pessaries.
- Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking and physical examination consistent with department protocol.
- Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy
- Consults with supervising physician as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
- Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies as needed.
- Establishes effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients, and families.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified by the practice.
- Performs efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
- Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.

QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum of 1-year OB/Gyn professional experience.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
- Emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and effective interpersonal skills.
- Valid Certifications Required
- BSN and MSN Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
- Advanced Practice Nurse Certification (w/ Master's Degree).
- DEA
- CDS
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support Certification.
- ACLS certification.
