ABOUT THE ROLE
The Financial Counselor is a patient-centric role providing support to the patient population of IVX Health. Primary responsibilities of the Financial Counselor are explaining patient financial liability/information, determining prospective patients ability to pay out-of-pocket costs, providing education on copay programs and patient assistance foundations, and assisting with the application process(es). Ideal candidates are customer focused and can multitask with interruptions in a fast-paced environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Discuss insurance coinsurance, copays and deductibles with patients and educate them on their insurance coverage as needed
  • Furnish patients and internal customers with patient balance estimates
  • Obtain consent and populate financial assistance program applications and copay applications on patients behalf
  • Learn and work with team on Assist Point platform to identify potential financial assistance programs and expedite enrollment
  • Obtain financial information and signatures from patients when requested by foundations
  • Set up, edit, and maintain payment arrangements in advance or post treatment of patients
  • Properly document all conversations in applicable systems (EMR, practice management, patient communication system, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior knowledge of clinical office procedures, medical practice, and medical terminology
  • Strong knowledge working with insurance and managed care plans to include benefit structures
  • Ability to navigate payor portals
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to recognize, evaluate and solve problems
  • Self-disciplined, with the ability to work independently and effectively prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with standard office software applications (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, etc.)

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least three years of experience in coding, billing, and revenue cycle functions
  • Basic understanding of infusion/oncology practice management preferred to include in-depth understanding of insurance


WAGE RANGE:
Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and is benchmarked against similar organizations to our size and industry. For our Financial Counselor role, we generally pay new hires between $20 and $23.50 per hour. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for roles and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. In addition to cash pay, full-time regular employees are eligible for 401(k), health benefits, and other company benefits; some of these benefits may also be available for part-time positions.
