Job Overview
Core Investment Systems team is responsible for developing technology solutions supporting Arrowstreet Capital s investment services and operations. We leverage technology to automate business processes introducing solutions using a combination of custom development and packaged platforms. The Core Investment Systems team provides services and capabilities to our business users that are essential to the firm s ability to deliver sustained alpha and to meet our fiduciary commitment to our clients.
The ideal candidate is a self-driven, team-oriented, accomplished hands-on AWS Python engineer with previous experience in building technology in the financial services industry, who has a passion for improving software architecture and the development process. A desire to assume leadership and take ownership are essential for this role. The ideal candidate will be creative problem-solver who enjoys working on complex problems as part of a team. They are a leader who drives technology adoption. This role is responsible for designing and implementing software solutions which take complex investment processes and bring them to life. Collaboration with other development leads and teams within Investment Systems and the broader IT team is a critical part of the success in this role. Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced AWS Python full stack developer with experience building serverless-based solutions to join one of our agile teams who will be responsible for the following:
- Engage with business and technology leaders to understand strategy, articulate solution options, evaluate tradeoffs, and influence key decisions
- Lead adoption and design of cloud-native technology solutions
- Rearchitect legacy applications to modern cloud-native applications
- Automate the software development, testing and deployment process including observability and application/infrastructure pipelines
- Participate as an engaged member of an agile development team
- Collaborate with other groups including developers, DBAs, network engineers, quality assurance and third-party vendors / consultants
- Embrace development best practices including continuous delivery and test automation
- Create and maintain documentation that is thorough, complete, and of a professional caliber
- Support production escalations with urgency
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or related field is required
- Required: A proven successful track record of taking ownership, accountability, and collaboration
- Required: 5 years hands-on coding experience with Python (data sciences and Web API experience preferred)
- Required: 3-5 years hands-on coding experience with AWS serverless services including Lambda, Step Functions, S3, and Glue
- 3 years experience in building and managing Cloud databases such as AWS RDS, DynamoDB or analogous architectures
- Strong background in developing and deploying high-performance REST-based microservices
- Strong, creative problem-solving abilities
- Experience with unit testing, isolation frameworks, and behavior/domain driven development
- React or similar modern UI framework
- Git source code management
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines with AWS DevOps, GitLab, and Terraform
- Great communication & organizational skills, drive, energy, enthusiasm, maturity, and confidence
- Experience in Financial Services
- Experience with messaging
- Experience with the ELK stack
- Knowledge of Microsoft C#, .Net Core, and SQL Server are a plus
