Prestage Farms is seeking a Collector who will collect, train, feed and care for boars at the swine genetics complex.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collecting boar semen in a timely and efficient manner on a daily basis
- Properly feeding boars daily by pushing a feed cart once a day into breeding barn
- Training of new boars as needed
- Treating boars with medication as needed
- Keeping boar rooms clean at all times
- Helping to pull blood and detusk boars as needed
- Power washing boar rooms as needed (bi-annually)
- Work in isolation as needed
- Daily stock supplies in room
- Maintenance on buildings and equipment as needed
- May be required to do laundry, clean showers and break room
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
ADA Requirements - Abilityto use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
- The greatest amount of heavy physical work is during blood collection and detusking
