What You Will Do

The Department of the County Attorney is seeking a professional individual with strong interpersonal and legal analysis skills. As the Assistant County Attorney, you will provide legal counsel to Carroll County stakeholders. Your advisory duties create preventative measures ensuring compliance and protection by law. As an ethical professional, you will appear before the District and Circuit Court of Carroll County to protect the County's interests.

Essential Duties

* Provide legal counsel to ensure County complies with federal, state, and local laws. Negotiate to resolve disputes, conflicts, and lawsuits.

* Attend or conduct hearings and proceedings. Litigate cases before District, Circuit, and Appellate Courts of Maryland.

* Draft, negotiate, and review contracts, legislation, and legal documents. Protect the legal interests of the County with preventative and remedial measures.

* Assist in the preparation and presentation of training and legal educational programs.

* Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.

* Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.

* Juris doctorate degree and admission to practice law in the state of Maryland

* Up to one year of related experience

* A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
