They are currently looking for a Regulatory Lawyer to join their US team to assist legal operations on a global scale. This will be a full-time role, with an approximate annual salary of $140,000.




The role and responsibilities:

  • Engage in matters concerning insurance regulations by collaborating with the Legal team and leadership as required.
  • Take an active role in regulatory compliance projects, providing guidance and insight.
  • Offer advice to various operational sectors such as claims, producer licensing, product development, marketing, finance, compliance, and risk, regarding both the substance and processes related to insurance regulatory obligations.
  • Support or take charge, as instructed, in addressing regulatory complaints and inquiries at state or federal levels.
  • Participate in government relations endeavours, including legislative monitoring, attendance at regulatory events, and collaboration with industry and regulatory stakeholders to devise and execute regulatory strategies conducive to the market.
  • Aid in managing regulatory communications and work alongside external legal counsel, if necessary, to resolve regulatory conflicts satisfactorily.
  • Draft and assess contracts when required.
  • Conduct research on pertinent statutes, legal trends, and case law via online legal resources.
  • Offer guidance on litigation matters as necessary.
  • Coordinate and contribute to addressing global and regional concerns.
  • Familiarize oneself with, review, and assist in implementing and preparing for audits of global policies, standards, and functional regulations (where applicable to Legal) set forth by our business unit's parent company and our overarching parent organization.
  • May undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.



Qualifications:


  • Law degree from an accredited University or Law School
  • Already have a legal counsel license in the state of Virginia, or can at least obtain one with ease and promptly- US Citizenship and right to work is required.
  • Extensive regulatory experience- ideally 6 years
  • Willing to travel up to 10%
  • Outstanding English Language communication and ability to write formal documents
