About the team

The Operations and People team supports the staff of BlueLabs, their work, and their clients. Ops and People at BlueLabs includes People Operations: supporting recruitment, onboarding, and the employee experience; Financial Operations: executing payroll, book-keeping, and financial planning; and broader Operational Logistics support: Legal Operations and compliance, as well as Facilities operations and IT.

About the role:

The Director, Legal Operations & Compliance, is responsible for overseeing all of BlueLabs Legal Operations and maintaining its compliance posture. They will support BlueLabs senior leadership team on high-level areas of contractual expertise across a wide range of disciplines including Government contracts and proposals, Professional Services, Product, and Polling. They are ultimately responsible for the execution of our contracts process, which supports all areas of the business as well. They ensure that every client and vendor agreement that is signed has been appropriately reviewed for risk mitigation and state, national (and occasionally International) compliance. They serve as the primary contact with external counsel for contract escalations and advisory opinions.

In this position you will:

  • Support members of the BlueLabs leadership team by providing high-level contractual expertise on (but not limited to) the following areas:
  • Business Development, proposal project management and strategy for Government contracts, and RFP s, including LCAT and pricing insights
  • License Agreements
  • Professional Services Agreements
  • Vendor Agreements, including Survey/Polling Vendors
  • NDA s
  • Ad Hoc agreements and forms with Third Parties
  • Corporate Governance Compliance
  • Oversee and be accountable for the entire lifecycle of the contracts process from contract generation, negotiation, execution, storage, and retrieval; collaborating with internal business partners and outside counsel to resolve any business or financial issues presented in contract negotiations.
  • Be the primary administrator of BlueLabs Contract Management System (Ironclad) leveraging it to meet business objectives and compliance needs.
  • Advise Senior Leadership of contractual terms that impact their project execution, e.g., data governance, non-compete terms, staffing restrictions, intellectual property terms, etc.
  • Manage client and vendor relationships from a contracts and legal perspective, and serve as the primary contact for negotiating contractual terms and conditions.
  • Serve as the primary contact with all outside counsel that BlueLabs works with, managing those relationships, triaging requests, and working with them to problem solve all legal and compliance issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Create and deploy a comprehensive framework for tracking legal requirements related to BlueLabs' unique data usage initiatives, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards. This framework will be shared with relevant stakeholders company-wide, and will serve as a key tool for monitoring and mitigating legal risks associated with data usage.
  • Serve as primary contact for advisory opinions and questions on this framework.
  • Oversee corporate privacy program and consumer response protocol in compliance with state privacy regulations. This includes creating and enforcing policies and procedures that safeguard the privacy of consumer data, identifying and assessing privacy risks across the organization, and coordinating with relevant stakeholders to implement privacy controls and training programs. Additionally, this role will be responsible for driving the process to respond to consumer requests related to privacy rights, such as access, deletion, and opt-out requests.
  • Manage the corporate insurance portfolio, including purchases and renewals, and claims information.
  • Build and roll out operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of legal operations & compliance services.
  • Analyze legal operations department metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Drive recruitment and hiring of 1+ Legal Operations Associates within 12 18 months of hire.
  • Responsible for day-to-day management and supervision
  • Develop and deliver trainings for relevant stakeholders on contract processes and terminology.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What we are seeking:

  • 7+ years of contract management and/or legal operations experience
  • Experience working with Government Contracts and/or proposals
  • Experience working with Data compliance a strong plus
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • An effective project manager: someone who can keep many different projects and timelines moving forward at once
  • People management experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Someone who is Incredibly detail oriented and organized: someone who loves checking off items in a to-do list, and keeping reports up to date
  • A proactive, clear, and effective communicator, both digitally and verbally
  • A process person who understands what needs to be accomplished overall and can adapt accordingly
  • A team player who thrives in a fast paced environment
