**DUTIES****:** The incumbent Leads and assists in direction of Recreation Assistant Fitness positions; including monitoring fitness center activities and ensures they are well supervised to ensure all applicable policies and procedures of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) regarding the use of Fitness facilities operations are followed. Communicates these polices to other staff and patrons. The incumbent ensures recreation aids (fitness) perform their duties in compliance with established regulations and instructions that are outlined in applicable manuals and policies and reports infractions to the supervisor. The incumbent ensures that fitness center recreation aids rotate as scheduled and during assigned breaks. Provides relief to fitness staff as required. The incumbent monitors equipment, takes head counts and observes conditions of area assigned to ensure a safe environment reports discrepancies to immediate supervisor. Performs cleaning duties and leads other recreation aid fitness staff in performing of such tasks (i.e. basic janitorial services, vacuuming and cleaning machines) along with routine facility maintenance as assigned by Fitness Program Manager. Serves as the primary liaison between the activity, security, medical departments, and Fitness Program Manager during emergency situations. Prepares accident/incident reports during emergency situations and immediately notifies Management of all emergencies. Incumbent must inform the Fitness Manager/Coordinator and recommend closing outside NOFFS area until safe conditions prevail. Sits in on Interviews and recommends selection of Rec Aids and Recreation Assistant positions to the supervisor. Provides introductory orientations to all Fitness staff. May open and close the facility and will serve as the Manager on Duty (MOD) in the absence of the Fitness Manager / Coordinator. Ensures maintenance work for facility upkeep to include, but not limited to facility equipment inspections including weight rooms, group exercise room, basketball courts, racquet ball courts, and cardio rooms. Conducts and documents all discrepancies, work orders, and unsafe conditions. Keeps Fitness Manager / Coordinator of all conditions. Alerts the Fitness Manager / Coordinator of problems with fitness equipment and safety issues; when unsafe environmental or health conditions exist. Checks identification cards for authorized patrons and collects usage fees, if applicable. Initiates emergency action plan and contacts medical personnel and performs first aid services. Manages customer service inquiries and complaints in a diplomatic and professional manner. Assists in compilation of time sheets, schedules for the supervisor and enters approved leave in the system in the absence of the supervisor. Provides input to assist in the evaluations of employee performance. Leads and manages staffing, supplies, equipment, maintenance and upkeep of facilities. Monitors cash handling in accordance with established policies. Ensures all recreation aid fitness staff attends continuous training programs and are able to execute emergency action plans in their areas.

**QUALIFICATIONS:** Incumbent must hold a current CPR certification and must have completed Navy Basic Fitness Training. Incumbent must have attended the Star Service Customer Care course and the MWR Cash Handling Course. Incumbent must have also taken Lead Training or Fleet and Family Management Course.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORONMENT:** Work usually is indoors and may or may not be air conditioned or heated. Constant standing, walking, bending, stooping and lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Care must be exercised in utilizing correct lifting techniques at all times.
