SUMMARY:

The eCommerce Sr. Merchandise Planner will initiate analysis and drive financial strategies that inform the merchandise plans to maximize sales, margin, and achieve other financial targets. You will oversee the merchandise planning for Boardriders eCommerce in North America, with a direct responsibility of Quiksilver and Roxy merchandise planning. You also supervise the buying of DC and Element. You will play a key role in creating reports/recaps of the business, develop financial plans and monitor the performance of sales, inventory, markdowns, profit, and SKU productivity. You manage the buying and planning team calendar, including communication of key milestones and deliverables. Partners closely with buying teams to manage the open-to-buy and analyze seasonal merchandise assortments. Works closely with Finance, Sales Operations & Global planning teams on aged liquidation, ATS discussions, and forecasts. You report directly into the Head of Buying and Planning and manage 2 direct reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pre-Season:

Create seasonal, monthly, and weekly plans and forecasts for sales, inventory, markdowns, and gross margin. Monitor performance and partner with buying team to develop financial strategies to achieve plans.

Quantify opportunity and risk of product plans as it relates to trend and financial metrics including mark-up, retail price, cost, margin dollars and rate.

Partner with Buyers and Planners to develop Pre-Season Sales, Margin and Inventory Plans by brand and category level, and merchandise plan mix pre-season, in-season and/or speed to market

In-Season:

Communicate monthly Open-to-Buy forecasts and supporting action plans to management and cross functional teams

Work with buyers to determine and manage exit strategies recommending items for markdown and controlling aged inventory

Maintain ladder plans to ensure never out of stock categories/franchises

Perform ad hoc reporting, financial scenarios, and additional tasks as needed

Drives improvements in reporting and partners with IT and cross-functional teams as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:

Must have minimum of 4+ yrs. Experience in Retail Planning

Computer Literate Advanced Excel Skills

Self-starter & able to thrive in entrepreneurial environment

Excellent Retail Math skills with clear understanding of financial measures and how to impact them

Highly organized and strong prioritization skills comfortable handling multiple tasks efficiently

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and creative problem-solving skills

Strong time management skills with a sense of urgency

Ability to learn technical applications quickly

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Management experience

Minimum Bachelors Degree or related professional experience

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:

Experience in Specialty Apparel Merchandise Planning preferred
