As a member of the Web and Performance Marketing team within the Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC) department, the Digital Marketing Content Manager is responsible for the development and execution of a digital content strategy for Pepperdine University. Creating, publishing, and reviewing content for distribution across multiple digital channels, including web, email, and other digital platforms, this position will develop content that drives engagement and effectively positions Pepperdine as a top-ranked leader in undergraduate and graduate education. The position upholds the University mission through editorial guidance, technical expertise, and digital content support for the recruitment, teaching, research, administration, and public service goals at the heart of the institution and plays a key leadership role in the college's digital channels to ensure prospect focus, user-centered design, intuitive information architecture, and high functionality and accessibility.

Duties

  • Digital Production (creative process)- Utilize various digital marketing platforms to produce and deliver content and communications. Create, manage, edit, and publish content, for digital platforms; primarily for websites. Responsible for creating and implementing web content strategy for Seaver College. Will use their discretion to advise others and execute the creative process of page layouts, imagery, and content on the Seaver College website within the site's brand structure to help departments and school programs communicate vital messages and objectives.
  • Content Development- Build content calendars and facilitate new content as well as updates to the website. Independently research topics and write search optimized blog posts for Seaver College as part of an IMC initiative to improve organic traffic and brand awareness. Write and develop relevant digital content and enforce the University's editorial and brand identity style guides. Coordinate message strategies for internal and external audiences. Act as liaison and use judgment on the best use for web and other digital platforms to communicate the core messages of the college's academic programs, departments, and administration.
  • Digital Management (management, functional knowledge) Lead digital marketing projects for Seaver College. Create and manage content and quality of Seaver's primary public facing website, seaver.pepperdine.edu. Run audit reviews on Pepperdine websites in order to ensure quality and accuracy of content. Develop best practices and production policies for other content managers at Seaver College and the other schools. Serve as a resource for communications, brand, web standards, visual identity, information architecture, content development, and accessibility (WCAG 2.1 level AA). Lead accessibility education, project management system, web editing, and email platform training.
  • Marketing Support Partner with marketing managers on the creation and optimization of digital ad campaigns and SEO objectives. Support marketing efforts on university flagship event campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Minimum of three years experience writing, editing, and producing digital content using CMS, HTML, and CSS. Experience using Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop; superior written and oral communication skills; Excellent project management skills. Experience with SEM/SEO best practices. Demonstrated ability to write compelling and engaging content for digital channels. Ability to partner with subject matter experts in creation of materials. Strong grasp of language rules, specifically grammar usage, spelling, punctuation and proofreading required; demonstrated ability to write compelling and engaging content for the web preferred; ability to partner with subject matter experts in creation of materials and with the university communications team preferred; experience in training faculty and staff on best practices for writing for the web. Preferred: Experience writing copy and producing content for University audiences; familiarity with the academic structure of college. Must have academic grounding and ability to understand University and college vision, academic needs, and functionality. Knowledge of best practices for digital content management and information architecture. Experience integrating social media efforts into broader media and communication strategies. Knowledge of World Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) for web accessibility and experience in producing content in compliance with the latest WCAG guidelines. Prior supervisory experience of student workers preferred. Google Analytics; Salesforce Marketing Cloud

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $67,486- $74,984 per year

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
