Provides prompt, courteous and professional service to our customers by installing, testing and maintaining metering systems consistent with Company policies and management objectives. This position falls under the Department of Transportation drug testing requirements. Prior to advancement, the employee shall be required to successfully complete a training program to demonstrate proper working techniques and practices in accordance with U.W.U.A./B.U.W. Agreement, Local #B340.Principal Accountabilities:End ResultsCorrectly read, connect, disconnect, remove and install all single phase and network self contained watt-hour meters and residential gas meters.Learn the understanding and ability to perform the proper programming of (AMI) automatic meter infrastructure meters and (AMR) automatic meter reader devices.Perform shop testing of all electric meters, including data entry of test results into the CIS and the AMI systems. Learn to perform the field testing of single phase self-contained meters.Learn and progress in the performance of gas and electric meter work orders including systematic replacements and credit lock outs. This position requires good customer relations and knowledge of company equipment in the field. This includes contacting the customer through the use of the company provided cell phone to communicate projected time of arrival for customer requested call-ahead appointments. Accurate documentation is required to ensure proper billing to our customers.Perform proper procedures for detecting, locating, and making sure the customer premises are safe from gas leaks.Learn company computer based metering programs such as FCS, MV90, CIS, AMI and MDSMust obtain the gas Operator Qualification (O.Q.) requirements associated with the positionCompetencyDescriptionAdaptability & FlexibilityThe ability to effectively manage multiple demands, shifting priorities, and changing situations; willingness and openness to change. Become familiar with the Company s Tariff and the DPU rules and regulations for electric and gas service.Be available to respond to overtime work, trouble calls, and system emergencies as requested.Reside within a specified geographical area as defined by the collective bargaining agreement.Will be drug tested under the PHMSA drug poolTHIS NOTICE IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARTICLE XI OF OUR AGREEMENT WITH LOCAL UNION #B340, BROTHERHOOD OF UTILITY WORKERS OF NEW ENGLAND, DATED June 1, 2022.HOURS: Hours shall be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.WAGE: Ultimate rate - $38.90 per hour, for a 40 hour week.
