We are working with our client MaineFlame, Inc in seeking an Accountant II, to be based in their Portland, Maine office.


Requirements of the Accountant II:

5+ years experience with a proven track record in accounting for inventory

Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions, interpret results and make recommendations.

Computer proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Ability to commute to Portland, ME Monday through Friday.

Occasional travel to Presque Isle and Ashland, ME will be required.


Benefits of the Job:

Salary range of 65,000-80,000

Responsibilities of the Accountant II:

Work with production, management and other co-workers to ensure accurate inventory controls, levels and values.

Develop and maintain an inventory accounting system in compliance with GAAP and tax requirements.

Report payroll hours and apply manufacturing labor and overhead costs to inventory

Prepare period-end entries to general ledger for inventory, cost of sales and all variances.

Analyze capital expenditure proposals and perform other financial analysis

Assist with other inventory and financial statement analysis as necessary.

Perform physical inventory counts on a scheduled basis and report variances to management.

Assist with other accounting entries, procurement activities and reporting as needed.

Ensure a safe work environment for self and others. Follow all safety rules and regulations.

Foster positive and productive relationships with MaineFlame management and production workers.



MaineFlame, Inc is a manufacturer of clean-burning, eco-friendly, Maine-made firelogs and pellets. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for maintaining inventory and other account balances and accounting processes necessary to successfully support reporting compliance and management decision-making.
