**BASIC PURPOSE**

Provide childcare during events/services held at The Salvation Army. Assist with VBS and other youth activities as needed.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

- Plan, monitor and implement age-appropriate activities to occupy assigned children during scheduled times.

- Handle challenging behavioral concerns in a fair, firm and caring manner.

- Work in accordance with The Salvation Army child safety regulations.

- Follow professional Code of Ethics for working with children.

- Understand and adhere to responsibilities of a mandated reporter in child abuse.

- Flexible work schedule is a must.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS**

- Interpersonal skills necessary.

- Relate well to children and adults.

- Experience working with children.

- High School graduate or GED required.

- Complete and pass all computer tests, including but not limited to PTM and sexual harassment modules.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**

- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.

- Ability to grasp, push and/or pull objects.

- Ability to reach overhead.

- Ability to operate telephone.

- Ability to lift 25 pounds non continuously.

- Ability to operate copier and other basic office equipment with supervision.
