**Duties**

** Summary**

Serves as an Operations Control Center (OCC) Specialist within the Technical Operations Service Unit

***Due to the Pandemic, and individual states with different phases of reopening, the selectees report date to the official duty station/facility may be delayed until such time as employees are allowed to report to the workplace. The person selected may telework up to the maximum extent possible, up to and including full time, until it is safe to relocate.***

**Responsibilities**

Serves as an Operations Control Center (OCC) Specialist within the Technical Operations Service Unit, NAS Security & Enterprise Operations (NASEO) Directorate, National Operations Group (NOG). Located at an OCC responsible for coordinating maintenance and operational activities with other FAA personnel and local, state, other Federal and private sector agencies to ensure continued system operations.

Develops workable solutions for use in resolving unanticipated situations adversely affecting heavily utilized or operationally critical components of the NAS. Takes decisive action to resolve major problems and assure the continuous availability and total reliability of NAS services.

Recognized for a high level of technical expertise on legacy and newly developed systems within a large facility or multiple facilities over a large geographic area.

Work requires maintaining technical expertise on complex systems and/or emerging technology systems interrelationships and management of the NAS.

Resolves restoration problems with minimal impact to the NAS. Ensures that all events are logged appropriately. Responsible for issuing and cancelling applicable NOTAMS.

Coordinate with multiple air traffic entities to shutdown and restore facilities, systems and services to prevent activities from disrupting air traffic operations.

Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to maintain and protect the integrity and safety of all components and systems for NAS service delivery.

Carries out work in accordance with overall plans and objectives of the organization, resolving problems as they arise and making adjustments as necessary to deal with unanticipated situations and organizational needs.

Plans, coordinates, and performs work with a high degree of independence, keeping the supervisor advised only of the most critical issues.

Resolves unique technical problems without managerial intervention, providing coordination and suggesting solutions.

Duties have a direct impact on the NAS.

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the requirements stated below:

**Specialized Experience:** Applicants must provide a resume which demonstrates and/or show that you possess the specialized work experience in your work history.

To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess experience that demonstrates an extensive knowledge of and experience in the technology, system interrelationships and management of civilian or military automated aviation, navigation and electronics systems. Generally, experience at the next lower level, Pay Band H/level III or FGGS-12 or equivalent, meets the minimum qualifications for this position as long as the experience supports the demonstrated abilities identified below.

Examples of specialized experience for this position include but is not limited to:

Ability to coordinate and collaborate on work activities with internal (FAA) and external entities to resolve complex technical issues.

Demonstrated experienced in one or more of the following specialties: Surveillance, Navaids, Communications, Automation and Environmental systems.
