Billing Coordinator - Legal

The Legal Accountant position at 3TG Staffing Solutions is a pivotal role aimed at managing and overseeing the financial aspects of our attorney clients' practices. This role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, from handling client billing processes to ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with legal billing standards. As a Legal Accountant, your meticulous attention to detail and dedication to financial integrity will directly contribute to the efficiency and profitability of our clients' legal practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Billing and Collections Management: Oversee the planning and execution of billing and collection operations, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing of client services.
  • Financial Record Keeping: Maintain precise records of billable time and expenses for client matters, contributing to the transparency and accountability of billing processes.
  • Client Communications: Serve as the primary point of contact for billing inquiries, offering clear explanations and necessary documentation to resolve queries effectively.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with other departments to verify billing accuracy, fostering a unified approach to financial management.
  • Account Reconciliation: Ensure timely receipt and recording of payments, including processing transactions and reconciling client accounts to maintain financial stability.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver comprehensive financial reports, highlighting billing activities, account statuses, and insights into practice performance.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Adhere strictly to ethical guidelines and legal standards in all financial practices, ensuring full compliance with client and industry requirements.
  • Communicating with clients regarding billing inquiries and providing necessary documentation or explanations.
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure the accuracy of billing information.
  • Corresponding with clients, answering questions, and resolving issues.
  • Receiving and recording payments from clients, processing credit card transactions, and depositing checks.
  • Reconciling payments and ensuring that client accounts are up to date.
  • Following up on overdue accounts and initiating collection procedures if necessary.
  • Preparing regular financial reports detailing billing and collection activities, outstanding balances, and aging of accounts receivable.
  • Providing the attorney or firm management with insights and analysis of the financial performance of the practice.
  • Adhering to ethical guidelines and legal industry standards when it comes to billing and financial practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with client billing and invoicing requirements, which may vary across different clients and matters.
  • Assisting with the preparation of client engagement letters, fee agreements, and retainer agreements.
  • Collaborating with attorneys and other staff to ensure accurate and timely billing processes.
  • Use industry-specific knowledge to solve complex problems

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Legal experience required
  • Degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • Work experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven legal experience and a strong foundation in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in accounting or bookkeeping, with a keen eye for detail and organizational excellence.
  • Exceptional communication and numerical skills, capable of engaging effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
