Department Summary

The Department of Physiology and Anatomy is home to researchers with a wide variety of interests and approaches. The Department is truly integrative as all faculty are engaged in interdisciplinary studies that span molecular, cellular, systems and behavioral sciences, with strong traditions of excellence in the study of cardiovascular, renal and neural-humoral control systems. The research activities of many of our faculty and graduate students involve studies of normal physiology, such as exercise and travel to altitude, as well as pathophysiological states, such as heart failure, hypertension, cardiopulmonary bypass surgery, diabetes, obesity, and sleep apnea.

Position Overview

The Department of Physiology and Anatomy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire a Laboratory Assistant to join our team.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Ability to perform essential job functions listed above.

* Good written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.

* BA or equivalent.

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties:

* Check inventory, arrange supplies, and place orders.

* Organize and clean the laboratory, glassware, and equipment.

* Maintain laboratory safety and compliance, including chemical inventory list and animal records.

* Prepare physiological buffers and solutions following printed directions and using balance, pH meter, and osmometer.

* Analyze data and organize files.

* Opportunities exist to perform experiments.

Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday (not to exceed 40 hours weekly)
