Agri Beef is seeking individuals who are passionate about feedyard management to participate in our management trainee program. The feedyard management trainee works closely with feedyard management and teams to develop the necessary skills to manage a feedyard department. This includes training in all areas of feedyard operations, policies, procedures, and actively participating in and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Individuals will be located at one of our feedyards in Washington (Moses Lake or Eltopia) or Idaho (American Falls or Parma).

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate understanding of specific roles in the feedyard by working one-on-one with management and feedyard staff.
  • Demonstrate understanding of cattle movement and health
  • Participates in feed production by calling bunks, batching and delivering feed, and completing related reports or records
  • Participates in yard maintenance by operating equipment and performing general maintenance tasks
  • Assist in the development and improvement of operations and procedures
  • Contribute to the organization's success by becoming familiar with Agri Beef's core values and STAR commitment; accepting new assignments
  • Participate in employee engagement and other employment related initiatives and activities
  • Follow and insure compliance with safety policies, standard operating procedures, and best management practices
  • Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Interest in a career path in the agriculture industry, specifically in feedyards
  • Bachelor's degree in agricultural economics, agricultural business, business, or related field preferred
  • Practical hands-on experience working with livestock in the beef or dairy cattle industries (preferred)
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and conditions


WAGE RANGE: $50,000 - $60,000 annually

BENEFITS: Competitive benefit package offered for regular (non-temporary/seasonal) employees (and qualified dependents) working 30+ hours per week includes medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, 401k, PTO accrual up to 15 days per year, six (6) paid holidays annually, and three (3) floating holidays.
