Role Description

This is a Full-time, on-site role located in Wauwatosa, WI. As a Principal Power Electronics Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of power electronics systems for use in electric vehicle charging infrastructure. You will work collaboratively with a team of engineers and designers, share knowledge and contribute to the improvement of existing products and the development of new products.


Your Impact:

  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced power electronics systems, focusing on grid-tie inverter technology for high-power applications.
  • Spearhead research and innovation in control strategies to ensure optimal performance, grid compliance, and system reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and methodologies, improving overall system efficiency and performance.


Technical Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in power electronics design, specifically for grid-tie inverters and high-power DC fast charging systems.
  • Profound knowledge of control theory and application in power electronics, including familiarity with advanced simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Proven track record of leading projects from conception to production, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and a detail-oriented approach.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience designing and developing power electronics systems, including experience with grid-tie inverters desired.
  • Experience with designing and implementing algorithms for the control and drive of power converters.
  • Expertise in power electronics simulation using MATLAB, Simulink, or PLECS.
  • Experience with hardware design and schematic capture tools such as Altium Designer, or an equivalent.
  • Experience with power converter EMC analysis and mitigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical safety standards such as IEC, UL, CSA, and FCC.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience coaching and mentoring junior engineers.
