Description

The Farm Worker's role is to work closely with the Lead Farmer and Farm Assistant to maintain TCAH farms. This includes manual farm work, guiding volunteer groups, supervising the Green Teen participants, and assisting with the general operation of the farms. Farm Worker must give a brief oral or written report of tasks completed to the Lead farmer, operate farm stand, and ensure all farm data received is passed to their direct supervisor.

Position Requirements

Monitor

  • Oversee tasks given to Green Teens; ensure all tasks are done effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor volunteers, school groups, corporate groups, foundations and non-profit organizations while they're in the space. Ensure each volunteer signs in before leaving.
  • Other duties as assigned

Manual Labor
  • Hands on farming activity.

o watering, seeding, transplanting, harvesting etc.
  • Basic maintenance and repair work on machinery, fences, gates, hoop house etc.
  • Tend to chickens

o Ensure chicken needs are met by harvesting eggs, feeding chicks and cleaning coop and run.
  • Prep and pack produce for delivery
  • Ensure all tools, equipment and machinery are returned to their designated areas

Farm Stand
  • Assist with set up and breakdown of TCAH farm stand
  • Provide great customer service for clients
  • Sell produce and maintain financial records
  • Ensure the general market space is kept clean and tidy
  • Inform residents of the farmers' market by flyering to schools, nonprofit organizations and local businesses etc.
