Description

As a Recovery Program Chaplain, you will provide high quality spiritual leadership and support to guests and staff of the Mission and Mission programs. You will do this by holding bible studies, weekly chapel, and being available to provide spiritual guidance to guests and team members as needed.

What you will do

  • Due to the sensitive nature of these essential job duties we are only able to consider females for this position.
  • Provide pastoral care for all guests in WCM programs
  • Conduct pastoral counseling when needed and recommend an appropriate plan of action for any guest you meet with.
  • Become familiar with Genesis addiction recovery curriculum.Meet weekly with supervisor and recovery team to discuss the status of any pertinent program information.Maintain caseload and meet with guests one-on-one as needed to help them walk through their spiritual journey.
  • Record, report, and maintain required records and statistical information
  • Work with team to lead daily community devotion
  • Develop and lead Bible studies for guests
  • Conduct interviews with new program guests to gauge their spiritual journey, complete spiritual journey assessment, recommend next steps in their discipleship journey
  • Connect guests with local churches & celebrate recovery programs while in program and upon graduation
  • Maintain a positive, pleasant, professional Christian attitude. Work with other staff to forge and model transparent and supportive Christian relationships, which will serve as a leading example for recovery program women.
  • The Mission accepts and encourages the involvement of volunteers at all levels in the organization. All staff is encouraged to assist in the creation of meaningful and productive roles in which volunteers might serve in the organization. All employees are expected to interact positively and cooperatively with our volunteers.
  • Attend and participate in all Mission, Division, and Department meetings and training, as required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Theology is required, Masters in Divinity is highly preferred
  • 3+ years of prior pastoral experience is required
  • Work experience in rescue missions or with homeless issues is highly preferred.
  • Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and being able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria is required, including but not limited to:
    • Clean driving record
    • No current suspensions or revocations
    • At least 21 years of ageWork experience in rescue missions or with homeless issues is highly preferred.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment. Requires frequent use of computers, keyboarding, and talking on the telephone. Frequently uses good judgement and cognition to problem solve and support guest needs. Occasionally will stand, balance, twist, bend, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms. Regularly lifts up to 20 pounds and walks using stairways to climb to multiple floors within the facility. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
