Refrigeration Maintenance / 2nd Shift

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ammonia refrigeration experience required. - Hours are 12:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Primarily responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), process and machine controls, advanced electrical systems and advanced mechanical and electromechanical equipment. The incumbent will use advanced computer blueprint/schematic interpretation skills to verify that all equipment is operating within required specifications and tolerances. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Independently create/modify ladder logic, install/troubleshoot/program PLC hardware (Allen-Bradley) and perform process control networking tasks using blueprints and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications
  • Calibrate/install/and repair flow and density, temperature, pressure, level, speed and moisture/humidity transmitters process and machine controls
  • Troubleshoot and maintain AC and DC electrical system controls
  • Troubleshoot and repair relays and performs alignments on mechanical equipment as needed
  • Search for and present ideas for permanent fix for reoccurring electrical problems
  • Identify unsafe conditions and correct; request assistance if unable to correct on own
  • Assist with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as needed
  • Train lower level employees as needed
  • Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
  • All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1, 2 and 3 certified
  • Pass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 4 required

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial machinery preventative maintenance and repair, mechanical and electrical knowledge a must
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings and schematics required
  • Intermediate math and computer skills
  • Ability to operate/use hand and power tools required; experience with welding, pipefitting and/or fabrication required
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate in English required
  • Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours
  • Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand up to 8 hours
  • Lift up to 60 lbs
  • Frequent/ constant walking around facility up to 150,000 sf
  • Exposure to wet and cold and wet and hot environments
  • Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling.
  • Frequently climbs stairs and ladders
  • Work around raw, live animal odors
