VP, Transportation (Cornerstone Brands)

**VP, Transportation**

Responsible for setting the strategic vision and successful execution of Cornerstone Brands customer transportation/shipping network to achieve critical short, mid, and long-term objectives. This entails leading a cross-functional team that builds technology, process and information tools leading to transportation solutions that continuously improve service levels/ offerings relative to the industry, while reducing our collective cost to serve our customer. Sharing best practices across brands, leveraging company scale, and leading strategic planning, continuous improvement and execution will be key focuses of this senior leadership role.

Responsible for managing the existing carriers and transportation as well for being highly agile to continuously evaluate and implement diversification opportunities that improve cost and service.

Regular collaboration with Fulfilment, Finance, Brand Leadership, and IT, and a significant external truckload, parcel and drop ship network will be required to ensure goals and associated process execution are aligned.

**The scope of this role covers:**

Managing over $300 million in freight expense

12k ocean FEUs annually

7 million plus customer and retail shipments (outbound and returns) annually

16-person team consisting of Transportation Managers, Supervisors, Planners, Analysts

Leading the long-term vision and strategy of our transportation/shipping and supply chain network.

* Proactively and assertively drive continuous improvement in logistics

Collaborate, influence, and gain support from business partners to achieve critical objectives and support business growth. Evangelize new features and supply chain solutions with cross-functional business partners, accelerating their adoption.

* Be a strategic partner with the Brands and organization to support successful growth initiatives

* Partner with Finance to develop sound budgets and forecasts monthly / quarterly and annually by leveraging industry trends / market indicators and business performance

* Participant in Cornerstone Brands Operations Council to drive cross-functional continuous improvement

* Regular cadence of communication / high level reporting of key performance indexes across logistics, risks, and initiatives

Create and cascade objectives throughout organization. Hold individuals accountable for performance and develop talent to maximize potential and contributions of the team.

* Responsible for achieving budgeted transportation/shipping OPEX.

* Develop solution, through the adoption of a shipping system, for example, that improves speed and success of carrier diversification, improves visibility, reduces cost and improves service

* Develop solution to improve inbound carrier performance, visibility, service, and cost, possibly by leveraging a managed service provider

* Ensure compliance with all transportation, safety and environmental policies and procedures

* Good understanding of a company P&L (knows interdependencies and cause/ effect of decisions to the financials).

* Well versed in North American transportation markets and operations, including Ocean, Parcel, Truckload, Less-than-truckload, forwarding, white glove home delivery, 3rd party cross dock and intermodal.

**Qualifications:**

* Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, Logistics or equivalent (MBA preferred)

* 10+ years Logistics experience with at least 5 years in leadership role over a large direct-to-consumer network with similar scope of responsibilities

* Demonstrated experience managing major transportation projects that materially improved cost/service through investments or changes in people, process, technology

* Highly engaged and in tune with logistics industry trends, best practices

* Detailed experience in distribution systems (WMS, WCS, TMS, YMS), extensive experience in carrier networks, structures, and operations procedures
