Excel Medical Center is seeking high-energy, detail-oriented Medical Records File Clerk to join our team in our mission to provide direct clinical adult medicine to the underserved community in Philadelphia!

Medical Records File Clerk Job Responsibilities:

As part of our back-office Medical Records staff, responsible for entering all medical records into medical billing system & patient charts, and responding to requests for patient's medical information.

Medical Records File Clerk Job Duties:

We are seeking a highly organized individual that can manage multiple tasks with sharp attention to detail and who is able to work independently.

The position will be working with professional staff, insurance firms, and handling outside requests for information.

  • Perform general clerical duties assigned in accordance with the Excel Medical Center's medical records office procedures.
  • Answer and transfer telephone calls, emails, faxes or take messages and take appropriate actions based on those communications.
  • Copy, file and update paper and electronic medical documents.
  • Collect medical information and perform data entry.
  • Create maintain patient medical files
  • Archive files per our procedures
  • Coordinate shredding of confidential files
  • Perform special projects as necessary


Medical Records File Clerk Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bilingual Spanish/English or Haitian Creole/English is a plus!
  • Minimum 1 year Medical Records department experience
  • At least one year customer service experience in a medical office setting
  • knowledge of EMR, insurance systems and insurance verification is a +,
    • Experience with EMR/Athena is a ++
  • Excellent customer service skills required ( patient, caring, helpful...)
  • Multi-tasking in a very fast-paced, busy office setting
  • Professional presentation and ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Experience demonstrating great interactive communication/telephone skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational and scheduling skills
  • Strong attention to details and dedication to quality
  • Excellent work ethic required!
