Job description

The Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis (HACA) is currently accepting applications for multiple Lifeguard positions in Annapolis Maryland to guard and monitor our swimming pool. Lifeguards perform public safety work and are responsible for protecting human life and maintaining order. The selected candidates will patrol and survey swimming areas to prevent swimmers from endangering themselves and/or others.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to the following: respond to pool area emergencies, enforce pool rules, submit daily pool reports, ensure ready status of rescue equipment, advise the residents of pool rules and regulations, and other duties as assigned. Lifeguards perform rescue work, promptly render CPR or emergency first aid, promptly report safety hazards to supervisors, and assist in maintaining routine documents or incident reports. The positions may also involve related maintenance and custodial duties, such as the cleanliness of the buildings and grounds at the pool areas. Applicants must adhere to all State and Federal laws, safety regulations, and must understand and adhere to pool policies.

Applicants must be able to and be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions. The shift hours for the positions are Monday - Saturday 10:00 am 6:00 pm. This is a seasonal position (June September)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years of age.
  • LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current certification as a Lifeguard from an approved agency (such as American Red Cross or YMCA).
  • Current certification in basic first aid or higher from an approved agency.
  • Current certification in AED, and adult, infant, and child CPR from an approved agency.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Lifeguard: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Customer Service: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • First Aid Certification (Preferred)
  • Lifeguard Training (Required)
