This senior-level position will lead the organization s statewide program of impact-oriented litigation and legal advocacy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-funded organization with a great legal team and a new structure of integrated advocacy where all departments collaborate cohesively. As Legal Director, you will select cases to lead putting you at the forefront of shaping the Kansas community.
ACLU-KS is seeking a creative, dynamic, visionary, and self-motivated team player to serves as its Legal Director to lead the growth of ACLU-KS s legal department in advancing and shaping the civil rights and civil liberties landscape in Kansas. The Legal Director reports to the Executive Director, serves as a member of ACLU-KS s leadership team working alongside them to ensure that integrative advocacy strategies are aligned in support of the organization s long-term issue priorities.
You will work with a collaborative and inter-disciplinary team to design legal strategies and determine long-term policy goals. Thinking creatively about litigation strategies will be critical. You will also act as an external ambassador to ACLU-KS and work closely with the communications team to engage in public forums and media opportunities. ACLU-KS has grown dramatically over the past few years and is implementing an integrated approach to protect and advance civil rights and liberties for all Kansan s including legal strategies, organizing, policy advocacy, electoral expertise, and strategic communications.
