PRESCHOOL-CLASSROOM TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  1. Hold Valid West Virginia Teacher Certification/Licensure in Early Childhood Education N-K or Early Education Prek-K and must have Preschool Special Needs PK-PK.
  2. Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia Department of Education in Minimum Standards for Licensure of West Virginia School Personnel.
  3. Satisfactory evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers and/or supervisors.
  4. Exhibits knowledge of the duties and responsibilities as demonstrated in the personal interview.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel and parents.
  6. Educational philosophy comparable with the Doddridge County Board of Education philosophy, mission statement and core beliefs.
  7. Ability to work cooperatevely with others.
  8. Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.
  9. Exhibits knowledge of current instructional technologies.


REPORTS TO: Building Principal or Director of Instructional Services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

All elementary/early education preschool teachers must: maintain vaild educator licensure at all times, renew educator licenses as set forth by WVDE, maintain positive work habits, perform duties as assigned and directed, maintain and upgradge professional skills, communicate effectively and exhibit professional teaching knowledge and strategies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Establish and maintain a program of instruction and evaluation which emphasizes skill and language development in an integrated manner which promotes independence and readiness for academic learning.
  2. Implementing programs of study.
  3. Develop and implement IEP's when necessary which stress indivudualized attention to: communication/language, cognition, motor skills, self-help skills, sensory awareness and social emotion growth.
  4. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  5. Use instructional management systems which increase student learning.
  6. Meet with parents of children to assist with the transition to school.
  7. Evaluate and communicate student progress to parents/guardians.
  8. Monitor student progress towards mastery of instructional objects and goals.
  9. Work with Parent Educator Resource Center to develop and implement a parent involvement program.
  10. Communicate effectively within the educational community.
  11. Meeting professional responsibilities.

TERM: 200-day contract (To begin the 2024-2025 school year).
