Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a full-time OSP Construction Foreman with a Telecommunications background. The OSP Construction Foreman plays a critical role in overseeing and managing the construction activities related to outside plant infrastructure projects. They are responsible for leading a team of construction workers, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of outside plant construction practices. This role involves actively working on-site and leading construction crews throughout the day.


We are specifically seeking a foreman with a telecommunications background, referred to as OSP Construction background. They will oversee three different types of crews: Overhead Crew, Underground Crew, Fiber Splicing Crew. The ideal candidate will be proficient (at least knowledgeable) in these areas.


Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of construction workers, including laborers, equipment operators, and subcontractors. Provide guidance, direction, and support to ensure efficient and safe completion of construction projects.

Project Management: Plan, organize, and prioritize construction activities to meet project deadlines and milestones. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that project objectives are achieved.

Site Preparation: Oversee site preparation activities, including clearing, grading, and excavation. Ensure that work sites are properly set up and maintained in compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.

Construction Execution: Direct and participate in the installation of outside plant infrastructure, including fiber optic cables, utility poles, conduits, and other related equipment. Ensure that construction activities are carried out according to industry standards and project specifications.

Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections of workmanship and materials to ensure quality standards are met. Identify and address any issues or discrepancies promptly to prevent delays or rework.

Safety Compliance: Enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and training sessions to promote awareness and adherence to safety protocols.

Resource Management: Manage equipment, materials, and resources effectively to optimize productivity and minimize waste. Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to the job site. Willingness to mentor upcoming apprentices.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of construction activities, including daily reports, progress updates, and as-built drawings. Provide regular reports to project managers and stakeholders on project status, issues, and resolutions.


Required Experience, Certification & Skillset

Experience: We are specifically seeking a foreman with a telecommunications background and proven experience as a OSP Construction Manager/Foreman with a minimum of 5 years in the field.

Extensive experience working in the actual construction build-out areas.

Slid understanding of micro trenching and directional drilling methodologies.

Familiarity with GO95 and GO128 regulations, as well as confined space protocols.

Certification: Possession of relevant certifications such as OSHA 30

Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating heavy machinery such as directional drill.

Communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members, clients, and stakeholders.

Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with the capacity to analyze and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

Adaptability: Flexibility to work in various environments and adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends.
