Trailer Mechanic Job Summary

Our company is looking to hire a Trailer Mechanic to perform a variety of preventative maintenance tasks on our trucking fleet. While we prefer someone who has a certificate or technical training in mechanics and trailer repair, we are willing to work with any mechanical professional that has experience repairing air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems.

Trailer Mechanic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Diagnose issues in trailers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on trailers.
  • Change mud flaps, trailer lights, tires and brakes.
  • Test equipment and systems for performance.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective components.
  • Perform regular check-ups and preventative maintenance on trailers and parts, including ABS, air brakes, frame, body, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Document repairs
  • Coordinate with other staff, receive & execute work instruction in a timely & proper manner.
  • Required to travel (locally) to worksites to repair equipment.

Trailer Mechanic Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) Regulations.
  • Completion of a certificate program or technical training in mechanics and truck repair or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and ABS brake systems preferred.
  • Ability to operate heavy duty equipment.
  • Physical strength and stamina
  • Experience with various hand tools.
  • Must have own basic tools.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Pass a physical and drug screen.

Details & Location

  • 8am start to 5pm plus overtime when needed, including overtime.
  • Starting wage: $25.00/hour to $30.00/hour based on work experience.
